Taking place at Yeo Valley HQ, Blagdon on February 6th, the awards, presented by Jo Rees, editor of Food Magazine, crowned the best of regions foodie hot spots, chefs, restaurants and hotels. Receiving nearly 100,000 votes from Food Magazine readers, all hungry to share their foodie favourites, the nominations represented the glitterati of the gourmet offering in the South West.

Frobishers was thrilled to attend the evening and present the award for our sponsored category.

Amongst stiff competition, the Local Food Hero award was won by Pete Sanchez-Iglesias of Michelin-starred restaurant, Casamia, Bristol. The category was one of the most hotly contested, with a celebrity roundup of nominations including Nathan Outlaw of Outlaws and Rick Stein of Stein’s along with Mitch Tonks of The Seahorse.

Other notable winners of the evening included Scott Paton of Boringdon Hall Hotel who scooped Best Chef, sponsored by Sharp’s Brewery and Jack in the Green, Rockbeare, winner of the Best Foodie Pub category, sponsored by Forest Produce.

Supporting the Food Reader Awards is just one of the initiatives that Frobishers undertake to help champion the region’s high profile food and drink offering, along with sponsoring the Trencherman’s Guide and supporting relevant sector events.

Commenting on our alliance with Salt Media, publishers of Food Magazine and the Trencherman’s Guide, Steve Carter, our sales and marketing director says;

“The South West packs a pretty proud punch when it comes to the profile of its food and drinks offering. We’re lucky enough to be blessed with some outstanding local producers and natural resources and are also home to an increasingly high number of notable chefs and entrepreneurial business owners. Being involved with awards such as these are a great way for Frobishers to show support and backing to the many great pubs, restaurant and hotels on our doorstep.”
